Vaucluse Suburb Profile

By Pillinger

Vaucluse has seen a 30 year reign as the number one suburb, only challenged by heavy initial investment in Point Piper at the beginning this cycle (2007).  The stand out sales in recent history are Dr Chau Chak Wing’s purchase in 2015 at 40 Wentworth Road Vaucluse for $70M which created an Australian record at the time. Then Jin Lin’s (Aqualand) purchase on New Years Eve of 6-8 Queens Avenue, Vaucluse for $52M for what would have been a record before Dr Chau Chak Wings purchase a few months earlier. Eastern Properties have unparalleled elevated gun barrel views of the harbour and directly to the bridge with complete privacy.  Prior to Mr Jin Lin’s purchase, 6-8 Queens Avenue offered short term leases for celebrities such as Katy Perry, Elton John, Bono, Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, as well as many high profile business people as it was completely private and said to offer the complete Sydney experience just with its views.

40 Wentworth Street was going to be the home of one of Australia’s richest dynasties, James Packer. It was sold virtually without being lived in to Dr Chau Chak Wing after a $20M build. My personal preference is 6-8 Queens, but that may have something to do with being fortunate enough to have sold it three times over the last 19 years twice as the Vaucluse record.
